JONI's GIN + TONIC
An ode to the highly aromatic Spanish style gin & tonic – perfectly playing up the organic thyme, grapefruit and lavender of Solveig – and the iconic musician who wrote about “paving paradise” after her first visit to Hawaii. Click here for recipe.
A well-made rye Old Fashioned is a revelation. Use only a bartender’s spoon of turbinado simple syrup for just the right amount of sweetness, and stir it at least 40 rotations for a perfectly balanced, supremely satisfying drink. Click here for recipe.
NAVY GIN + TONIC
The definitive Gin & Tonic, Navy style. Far North has a direct family connection to the United States Navy’s oldest continuously active fighter squadron, the “Red Rippers” (they may or may not have actually bottled some of the Gustaf you’ve enjoyed), and the spirit is named for Great Grandpa Gustaf who started the family farm back in 1917. Born in 1850 and credited as the oldest branded cocktail, the Sazerac is one of our favorite cocktails. The lemon and anise-scented absinthe subtly intermingle, playing off the spice and leather of the rye whiskey...elegant, old school, NOLA. Click here for recipe.
We first enjoyed a version of this spectacular drink made with our Ålander spiced rum at Biltong Bar in Atlanta, and we loved it so much we knew we had to feature it on our cocktail room menu. Fargo’s own award-winning bartender Adam Nehk created a version of this drink for a special five-course cocktail dinner featuring our spirits at Coteau des Prairies lodge in Havana, ND. JACKIE KENNEDY DAIQUIRI
We first enjoyed a version of this drink made with our own Ålander spiced rum added to house-made falernum at the the bar in the historic Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station. Jackie Kennedy is credited with saving this New York City landmark when it was being considered for demolition.
